Will be added near the museum’s existing Black Stone Cherry exhibit
MT. VERNON, Ky. (August 18, 2023) – JWA Media’s Jason W. Ashcraft recently donated an original autographed copy of his September 2008 printed issue of Louisville Music News, a cover story on the popular Kentucky-based southern rock band Black Stone Cherry, to the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame & Museum. The article was authored by Ashcraft himself during the band’s promotional cycle for their second album, Folklore & Superstition, and can still be read online at LouisvilleMusicNews.net.
“Black Stone Cherry was one of the first major bands I interviewed as a freelance music journalist,” Ashcraft said. “I first met them through their Manager Richard Young of the Kentucky Headhunters, in 2003, when he brought them to my hometown of Louisville to start breaking them out. They invited me down to the legendary practice house for an initial interview where I snapped that photo of John Fred Young holding the gas can in front of the practice house. I wasn’t credited with that photo properly, but I am happy to now allow the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame & Museum to preserve this unique heirloom that is 100% authentically Kentucky.”
“Jason, this is jim dandy,” said Richard Young. “I still have a copy somewhere in the practice house. I’m sure the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame is excited to have an original piece of Kentucky press on the boys. Thank you for believing in BSC since the beginning!”
